UPCOMING AUDITIONS and OPPORTUNITIES
Steel Beam Theatre (St. Charles, IL) is seeking volunteer actors for Trifles: A Murder Mystery.
This will be a TRULY UNIQUE show where we will work together to co-create an unforgettable and immersive experience.
ALSO SEEKING: PAID — 3-piece folk band (singers and/or instrumentalists), one of whom will double as the main suspect MINNIE WRIGHT (speaking role).
—
ROLES:
Mrs. Hale — Adult, Any age/ethnicity
Fierce, empathetic, and cynical, MRS. HALE harbors debilitating guilt—she suspected MINNIE was a victim of domestic violence yet did nothing to help. Now tragedy has brought her to the farmhouse, but too late.
Mrs. Peters — Adult, Any age/ethnicity
A sheriff’s wife, MRS. PETERS is resigned to her lower social status as a woman, making halfhearted excuses to justify the men’s chauvinism. Soon, MRS. PETERS can’t help but see her own traumatic memories reflected in MINNIE’S story, gaining insight into both.
George Henderson (COUNTY ATTORNEY) — Adult, Any age/ethnicity
A dashing county attorney who serves as our main antagonist. Playful, arrogant, and sexist, he has the attitude of a sleek, self-satisfied cat who’s eaten a canary.
Lewis Hale (A NEIGHBORING FARMER) — Adult, Any age/ethnicity
MR. HALE is haunted by his discovery of John Wright’s body. His nearly three-page monologue sets the tone for the play as he paints a grisly picture of the murder he discovered.
Henry Peters (SHERIFF) — Adult, Any age/ethnicity
The local lawman who arrested Minnie Wright, locked in a power struggle with the attorney.
